Why Accounting?
I started at Janney & Associates as an IT consultant in 2002 and was very quickly brought in as the firm’s full time IT Director. Because of my exposure to the industry and changes in the IT industry, I decided to pursue the tax and accounting side of the business, as well.
What experience do you have?
I have a degree in Information Technology and am an active member of the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP). In 2012 I gained certification as an Enrolled Agent, a special IRS designation that requires knowledge, testing and continuing education. The designation grants me the credentials to work on various IRS issues with clients.
I’m very proud of the fact that I directed our firm’s move to the cloud, something that has dramatically improved our efficiency and security. This move has allowed me to spend most of my time with tax and accounting side of the business.
Tell us about “Young Kevin” and what you are up to now.
I grew up in Smith County, Tennessee and still live there with my wife, Jera and our dog Rex. Both of our sons, Camron & Nathan, are out on their own now. They like to say that mom and dad are now having “the time of their lives”. Our son, Camron, is in the Marine Corps, currently stationed in California. His younger brother, Nathan, lives in Cookeville and we’ll let you know his plans as soon as he tells us. They are both fantastic guys and we try to see them as much as possible. When I’m not at work, I enjoy golfing, working out at the gym, and traveling with wife Jera as much as possible.
